Welcome, sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers! Today, we embark on a thrilling journey through the exiting world of the Athx Games 2025, discussing all that we can expect! This year promises to push the boundaries of athleticism and innovation, offering spectators and participants alike an unforgettable experience packed with adrenaline, excitement, and surprises.
Unveiling the Three Unique Events👇

Our first stop is the strength challenge, this is year is pretty simple and a lot more dependent on pure strength rather then skill. The 5RM back squat will hype us all us while the 10RM strict press will most likely render us all very miserable 😂
Top tip - start training strength asap, in my ATHX 2025 program we’ll start doing loads of high speed high volume back squat and box squat about 12 weeks before the comp, and narrow it down to more stricter and higher percentages reps in the last 6 weeks! If you intent on being comperetive that’s where the money is at, but don’t ignore your strict press! It can get a bit boring training for it but they are a lot of fun and creative ways to go about it.
The Pro division will have a 3RM weighted pull up as well! Basically (in all fairness) weeding out all the strong heavy lads that will smash out the back squat and strict press.
The endurance event

Next, we dive into the endurance zone, different format from the previous years. The rowing machine and ski has been taken off, putting a much greater emphasis on the bike and running element remaining. 12 min on one right into 12min over to the other, one athlete has to start on the bike and the other on the run before switching at the 12min mark. This is hard again. ATHX managed to make this event event less open to strategy between pair making it even more depend on pure fitness. Although… here’s my thought 💭
If the event is for max distance, every metres count. The difference between you placing top 50 or 100 might be 10m, given the format from last year. I doubt ATHX will separate the score on the leaderboard, given this reasoning the bike now has become a lot more important than the run. For, every 500m run is the equivalent to 1k on the bike. If there’s one big score with a total metre counted. “Pacing” yourself on the run sounds like the smart thing to do.
The Metcon

Our final destination brings us to a very very hard workout! The Metcon will in my opinion be the hardest, maybe competing against the 2023 Metcon which was quite spicy 🌶️
There will be a 50cal row buy-in and buy out! The synchro burpees will be quite hard especially by the second round of them but otherwise everything should be evenly broken down to assure a good work/rest ratio :)
The major mistake here I think will be, to go off too hot on the row buy-in. Everyone will start at the same time and it will feel a lot like a 50cal row race, but don’t you forget about the second half of the workout and the buy out!
